Cast Of Seinfeld: How Much Are They Worth Now?

Seinfeld was a TV show that ran from 1989 to 1998 on NBC, and aired for nine seasons. It was written by Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, and although was actually recorded in Los Angeles, was based in New York City, the Upper West Side to be exact. It was such a big deal that the major New York newspaper actually ran front page stories on the producer’s decision to stop making it when they announced in 1997, and over 76 million viewers tuned in to watch that final show.

But … the cast of Seinfeld: how much are they worth now? We decided to investigate, and this is what we came up with!

Jerry Seinfeld

He appeared in 173 episodes of the show, and was in the cast list for the entire time it aired – 1989 to 1998, but Jerry Seinfeld isn’t just an actor. He’s a director, a producer, a writer and a comedian also, and Seinfeld was a project that he not only starred in, but also co-wrote with Larry David. The series was a little bit about him, and a little bit fictional, quite the opposite to Bee Movie. In that, he played the voice of Barry B. Benson, and he was also the producer for the movie, and co-wrote it also.

Before Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld was a comedian for 15 years, and regularly appeared on TV shows such as David Letterman and the Tonight Show. These days, he takes on more of an executive producer position with his projects, almost on a semi-retired basis, and has also tried his hand at writing books for both kids and adults, something he has proved quite successful at.

Jerry Seinfeld is now said to be worth over $800 million, with his 2004 earnings from Seinfeld being $267 million. There were Microsoft deals also throughout his career, and these were said to have earned him $10 million, and between 2008 and 2009, he was actually the highest paid comedian in the world. In 2015, he actually made the Forbes list, hitting the number one spot, for highest-paid comedians of that year also.

Michael Richards

He played Cosmo Kramer in 173 episodes, sticking with the TV show for as long as Jerry Seinfeld did, but acting isn’t all that Michael Richards can do. He’s also a comedian, just like Jerry, as well as a producer for TV shows, and an actor. It was his position as Cosmo Kramer that earned him a Primetime Emmy Award, and that was for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series”. He didn’t just win it once either, he won it three times.

Another one who started off as a stand-up comedian, he often made guest appearances on various TV shows, and when Seinfeld itself ended, he returned to the comedy scene once again, retiring in 2007.

These days, Michael Richards is said to be worth an estimated $45 million, his retirement somewhat “forced” after cell phone video footage showing him being racist went viral. Since then, his work has dried up.

Jason Alexander

Playing George Costanza for 173 episodes, just as long as Michael Richards and Jerry Seinfeld, certainly didn’t hinder Jason Alexander’s career, and he’s gone on to become a well-known, loved and respected comedian, director, actor and voice actor. As well as Seinfeld, he was also known for his role as slight-jerk in Pretty Woman, Phillip Stuckey. Following on from that, he has had a very successful career in Broadway, even winning Tony Awards for his performances. Oh, and just in case you didn’t know, he even voiced Hugo the gargoyle in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame from 1996.

Over 50 films and 50 TV show appearances has made Jason Alexander somewhat of a household name these days, and he’s now said to be worth over $50 million.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus

As well as an actress, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is known for being a producer and also a comedian, and she’s known for a whole host of TV show and movie appearances alongside her Seinfeld appearances. For the record, she appeared just one episode fewer than the rest of the main characters – 172 to their 173. She has gone on to have a flourishing career, bagging herself no fewer than 7 acting Emmy Awards, as well as two for directing. In fact, she’s had over 20 different nominations (and wins) throughout the course of her career, including American Comedy Awards, Primetime Emmy Awards, Satellite Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and more.

Julia had money to begin with, and didn’t exactly need her own wealth to help the family out. Her father was an entrepreneur, but she was determine to make it on her own. Each episode of Seinfeld was said to have bagged her over $150,000, and she’s had a consistently successful career in television. These days, she’s said to be worth over $200 million.

Ruth Cohen

Appearing in 101 episodes of Seinfeld, Ruth Cohen played Ruthie Cohen, but she didn’t really have a name in the TV show until towards the end. In fact, she only ever played an extra, but she could boast about appearing in the show more than any other actor, with the exception of the main cast, of course.

Sadly, Ruth Cohen died in 2008 from a heart attack. RIP Ruthie Cohen!

Wayne Knight

He showed up in 45 episodes of Seinfeld, playing the part of Newman from 1992 to 1998, but Wayne Knight is also a comedian as well as an actor. He’s appeared in more than his fair share of movies over the years, and a few we’d like to mention include the 1996 hit, Space Jam, and also in 1999’s Toy Story 2, in which he played the voice of Al McWhiggin. Most of us will remember him as one of the bad guys in the old classic 1993 movie, Jurassic Park – Dennis Nedry.

These days, Wayne Knight is said to be worth over $8 million, and his success in both TV and film is behind that.

Smaller Parts:

Of course, there were a number of other actors who regularly appeared in Seinfeld, and we decided that we should save a special mention for those fine folks too.

Norman Bremner, for example, played the part of “man on sidewalk” for 29 episodes, showing up in the TV show from 1990 to 1998.

Estelle Harris regularly popped up also, playing the part of Estelle Constanza in 27 episodes from 1992 to 1998. In fact, there were quite a few famous names who popped up, some of which may just surprise you! Bryan Cranston appeared in five episodes of the show, and Bette Midler popped up in one, as did Rob Schneider and Courteney Cox.
