  4. When are we doing this again?

Tips for a Smooth Conversation

It’s easy to slip into “interview” mode when you’re talking with someone on a first date. You definitely want to get these questions answered, but you have to do so in a way that seems natural and fun. Nobody wants to go on a date expecting a fun time only to be interviewed like they’re applying for a job. These tips can help with that.

  1. Read their body language.

Not everyone is open to talk about the really important stuff right away. You have to gauge their body language and see if they’re open to you or shying away from a specific topic.

  1. Let the conversation wander if it wants to.

If you two start going off on a rant about a certain question you asked, let it go. Don’t feel forced to get back to asking questions if the conversation is going in a good, natural direction.

  1. Don’t worry about getting through the list so much as listening to their answers.

There’s no point in asking so many questions if you’re not fully absorbing what they’re saying. You want to make sure to get some questions answered, but don’t just go through the list without actually hearing them.

First dates aren’t supposed to be difficult, but you also want to make sure you’re getting to know the person you’re with. These question will definitely help with that.
